Manual Handling Training

Manual handling is one of the core educational areas and the sessions run by Care Physiotherapy are designed to fulfil these standards and help decrease both the risk and the common occurrence of manual handling injuries in your workplace.

We run 2 hour sessions geared towards Care staff, covering both theory and practical components, and 1 hour sessions for Kitchen, Household, or Admin staff. After attending our training, staff will:

  • be able to define Manual handling
  • gain an understanding of OH & S legislature and responsibilities
  • be aware of signs and symptoms of common injuries
  • be aware of the incidence and effects of injuries
  • be aware of hazardous tasks that increase the risk to injury
  • know how to derive key information from the mobility/physiotherapy assessments
  • know how to warm up, stretch and be fit for work
  • be able to practice safe lifting and transfer techniques
  • be deemed as competent in manual handling

The practical component may also be adjusted to suit the particular needs of the facility. The benefits of keeping workers safe far outweigh the costs of prevention, so please contact us if you would like to discuss these sessions further.
